We all know what we mean when we hear or see 9.11. You might even know where you were and doing on that fateful day.  What about 21.12?

Unlike 9.11, this meant nothing until after that date. If someone mentions 21.12 most people know exactly what this date means

The end of the world and civilisation as we know it: perhaps?

Just,  in case you don’t know what is special about this date, I will give a brief explanation as I know it.

The Maya civilization that lived in and around the Mexican region of the Americas, and survived till about 900 AD., they produced what is now known as the Long Count. It’s a bit like a 5 year dairy but this one lasts for roughly 5,125 years. Well like the dairy there is a date when it finishes and in this case the Long Count ends on 21.12.12.

Of course, us humans that enjoy all the doomsday scenarios, have picked up on this.  Even a film as been made to celebrate this forthcoming event; well it would be a bit pointless to do the film after this date now wouldn’t it.

We love the Prophit’s and the prophecy’s given out.  Nostradamus is probably the most famous of them, and probably the one that makes no sense till after the event, and then its doubtful that we have it right even then. Hister / Hitler debate for instance?

I am writing this little article because today is December 21, 2011. Just one year before 21.12. You can even download an app. or widget to give you a run down to 21.12.

No, before you ask,  I haven’t done this…..but feel free…

Be warned, the only thing that might happen when it goes to nought is the your computer might blow up.

The end of our or any civilisation is obviously something that does happen from time to time. We all think we are so important here on our little world. It doesn’t take a seer to foresee that in a few years time the changes that will happen will come. Possibly out Grand children will see the changes, the fight for food and water, fuel and land. A war? Probably. What is the main cause? Greed is my answer.  Even now we seem to go to war only if there is oil involved.  Am I wrong.  The country is going broke but we can cover the cost of a war where there is oil involved  We didn’t go into Egypt or Tunisia did we?

I will get of the soap box now.

I recommend you get a copy of Fingerprints of the Gods; written by Graham Hancock.

This is a great read and written in a  way that is enjoyable and an easy read. If the author’s name is familiar, he has done a few documentaries which are normally shown on one of the discovery channels.

He has some great theories which thou not excepted by main stream boffins, make you think beyond the few thousands years we have polluted the planet.

Anyway which ever or whoever’s theory is right. Be it a dinosaur destroying asteroid or earth crust shifting world ending doomsday sort of day.   I for one will not do any Christmas shopping next year till 22.12.12. Just in case?
